A tribute to my dad. I think it can be said without question that I have the best dad. He is loving, caring, comforting, protective, and one of my closest friends. I think it’s cool that I can call my dad to chat and see how is day is going, or that he calls me when he’s out window shopping for a shotgun. He has a passionate love for his wife, and a Godly love for his kids. He still opens the door for my mom everytime they get in a car or walk through a doorway, the way he serves her is inspiring to say the least. He has had many passions over my lifetime: running, cycling, cooking, motorcycles, Wii tennis, and now guns. He has taught me many things over the years: how to mow the grass, run around the block without stopping, how to change a flat tire and how to change my oil (all of which were requirements before I could drive by myself), and most importantly, how to shoot a gun. If you haven’t enjoyed a meal cooked by him paired with an exceptional wine then you are missing out on life. Needless to say, he’s great, and I love him very much!! Love you dad!

This email was written my brother who is much better with words than I.

Happy Birthday Dad-
Yesterday we celebrated the 40 year anniversary of landing on the moon. But did you know that today was the day they left the moon? Tell me something. In terms of history, what is more important? To land on the moon or to leave the moon and get back to Earth intact and able to tell the tale?
I think today is more important. Think of it this way, if it hadn’t been for today then whoever came behind them and succeeded in getting back to gravity would have been the celebrated ones. Neal and Buzz would have been the anecdotes in someone else’s story.
So today I pay tribute to that 14 year old boy who witnessed history and went to do greater things than those before him.
1) You been on submarines and almost sank one that cost more money than most people can only dream about making…you’ve flown a plane, built your own motorcycle (not really but sort of), got your sailing licensee, scuba license, concealed weapons license, am I missing one?
2) You’ve traveled more than anyone in your entire family. Cousin Matt doesn’t count, he’s a trained assassin….and you might be going to China soon…pretty rad
3) Both of your kids graduated from college and live reasonably adjusted lives…though your first grandchild is a dog…you should talk to Lindsey about rectifying that situation.
4) You scored the big one with your wife…aren’t you glad you lied about your age…I would have
You’ve lived a pretty cool life Dad. You should be proud. There is a lot to be happy about. Honestly. I hope your next 54 are just as exciting. See you have to live that long if you ever want to see my children.
I love you,
Chris
