Bucket List?

August 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Ok so have you guys heard of these? I’ve seen them around a few times, I think they’re a fancy name for a list of things you want to accomplish in your lifetime. To me there should be like 3 different bucket lists: 6 Month Bucket List, 1-5 Year Bucket List, Lifetime Bucket List, if you want to call them bucket lists. I guess they’re called that because they are kind of all-inclusive. I’m sure this will change over time, hopefully be added to. So here goes, mine are a little more organized though:

6 Month List:

  • Finish my the Houston Half Marathon without stopping to walk
  • Get Married (this will be easy :) )
  • Take a scrapbooking class
  • Get involved with a church
  • Find a place to volunteer or serve
  • Take more Bikhram (sp?) yoga on a more consistent basis
  • Take some cooking lessons; formally and informally, so that I can cook more regularly

1-5 Year List:

  • Go to Europe with Adam
  • Visit the Concentration Camps in Austria
  • Go to Africa
  • Go on a Mission Trip
  • Take photography classes
  • Learn how to surf
  • Learn how to scuba dive
  • Learn how to drive a standard
  • Train and complete a triathalon
  • Complete the MS-150

Lifetime List:

  • Go skydiving
  • Go handgliding in the Grand Canyon
  • Live in another state or country
  • Find out what my passion in life is
  • Visit all of these countries and take amazing vacations with my soon to be husband: England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Russia, China, Thailand, Austrailia, Tour Latin America, South Africa, Egypt, Israel, Tahiti (is that a country I think an island), basically touch foot on all the continents, except for Antarctica.
  • Learn a foreign language
  • Take a wine sommelier class

That’s good for now, it’ll keep me busy.

6 Random Facts…

August 27, 2008 · 3 Comments

I’ve been ‘tagged’ by Tonya, so….

Here are the tagging rules:
1. Post the rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post
4. If you are tagged, DO IT and pass it along

Random Facts About Me:

1. I really like to drink hot tea in the afternoon; but I only like 2 kinds of the Tazo brand: ZEN and I mix it with honey, and AWAKE and I put milk in it. Funny thing is, my cousin Jessica also likes these same two teas the same way, and we just realized it like a month ago, and we were living in 2 different states, weird huh.

2. I almost always put my make up on in the car at stoplights. A horrible habit I know, but I never quite seem to wake up in time to put my make up on in the morning, and I don’t put very much on as it is, so it only takes me like one or two stoplights.

3. I have had the same hair stylist since 2002 and I am really scared to go to someone else. I need to just take the plunge and try it, but every time I think about doing it, I just call up Ivis and make my appointment.

4. I know everyone says this, but I really wish I could sing. Like really really sing, it has always been a dream of mine. And I frequently give concerts in my car and use my cell phone as my mic, and sing along to whatever artist is playing, I am quite convinced that if someone could hear me by myself in the car when no one is there, that they would be blown away by my talent, at least that’s what I believe.

5. I have an unnatural fear of snakes. I hate snakes, and by hate, I mean really really hate. Every time I go to the lake or to a river, it takes all of my will power not to be freaked out. I hate getting next to the edge of the water where the grass and stuff is because I know one day I am going to step on one and get bit. I used to dream of the being in my bed when I was younger and that if I moved I would get bitten. I think this comes from one time when I was younger, like 7, these water moccasains attacked our fishing boat and tried to swim up the side and get in, I’m not lying. We had to beat them with fishing poles, you can ask my dad.

6. When I was younger, I thought we didn’t have to go to church during the summer. Seriously, I figured if I didn’t have to go to school, why on earth would I have to go to church. My parent’s logic made absolutley no sense, I thought they were pretty ridiculous.

I tag:

Stacey – Get a stinking blog already; Melinda – You get a blog too! Heather H; Jenny P; Melody; Chris; Amy

Now taking song requests…

August 27, 2008 · 1 Comment

Ok, so we are approaching the half way point, 3 months to go before the big day, and now we are getting into the really fun stuff of planning, like putting the playlist together for the DJ. Now, I know we have all heard horror stories of bad DJ’s which is why we are taking the pre-cautionary route and pre-selecting all the music, a daunting task yes; however, with everyone’s help, this should be fun. So let me know which songs you want to shake it to. There will be no ‘Shout’ no ‘YMCA’ and no conga line, but there will be lots of dancing. So let me know, have a great day!

Cheaters???

August 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

After reading around on a few blogs, I found some really interesting information. I’m sure many of you have heard that there is an investigation of He Kexin’s real age. I have to admit, the first time I saw her on the TV, I was like, is she even 10? So anyways, I found the blog of this guy who has been doing a little google hacking, really really interesting. Basically proving that information is dissappearing off the internet as he was looking into it. There are a lot of people picking up on it, apparently she is only 14, and they tried to cover it up, and are removing all information on their government lists for sports, but due to this guys knowledge, he is able to pull up some pretty interesting stuff. Check it out and pass it on, it’s really interesting (make sure you check out his first post too!):

We saw John Mayer on Saturday night, and it was AMAZING! His interaction with the crowd, his musical talent, everything was awesome. He played without his shirt on and had a full sleeve tattoo, I think Adam fell in love, he mentioned something about calling off the wedding :) Just kidding. Hayden & Lauren got us tickets to go with them for our engagement present, thank you guys so much we had a blast!

Why I Love Houston…

August 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Tropical storm Eduoard came through yesterday, and although this might be a bad thing to say, I’m very glad it did. Now that I live up in Spring, you don’t quite get the same force of the storms out of the Gulf as you do living downtown. Not that Eduoard brought that much damage with it, which is the best of both worlds because I work for a company that is very concerned with safety, so any hint of danger, they close down the building, and they did. Luckily, the church Adam works for is closely tied with the schools and because the schools were closed, so was the church = day off with nothing to do. I guess with all the ‘global warming’ and such ice/snow days are a thing of the past, so at least we have the storms!! It was great, we got a lot done. We met with the pastor for the wedding to discuss specifics about vows, readings, etc. Adam did some recording and I caught up on some reading and a nap, and then got a massage. And since I still hadn’t unpacked from my move (it’s been a long time I know), I made Adam sit on my bed while he did some work and I cleaned my room. I used to make Alissa and Stacey do this in college, I don’t know why, but just having someone else there helps me stay focused on the task at hand, I don’t think Adam realizes he will be doing this often. Just kidding, he better be helping me clean :) It was a good day, productive yet very relaxing.
